DRI-SLEEPER: Dri Sleeper Enuresis Alarm

DRI-SLEEPER: Dri Sleeper Enuresis Alarm

DRI Sleeper Enuresis Alarm is suitable for children aged 5 years and over. Successful treatment with DRI Sleeper takes from a few weeks to a few months.

Bedwetting is not a new problem, in fact research on bed-wetting goes back over 50 years and shows that approximately 17% of children around the age of five years wet the bed most nights. Even at the age of 19, 2% of children are still wetting. This means that bed-wetting is a problem for about one in seven children between the ages of 5 and 18.

Published medical research has proven that bedwetting alarms have a success rate of 80%, however, it is thought that with today's more responsive and reliable alarms, success rates could be as high as 90%. Medical research agrees that an alarm like DRI Sleeper is nine times more effective than drugs in the long term.

The Alarm Unit DRI Sleeper is a compact alarm with a revolutionary, flexible, moulded detector, designed for maximum comfort and response.
* Small size
* Safety electronics
* Volume control (set it to max - the control is internal so your child can't change it)
* Max alerting sound
* Child friendly colours
* Attached via Velcro (no pins or clips)
* The Sensor - the key to beating bedwetting
* To react to the first drops of urine, Dr Anthony Page designed the world's first, patent-pending, flexible Urosensor.

The Urosensor goes inside the underpants right where the urine hits.

Its soft and flexible - no hard plastic clips or domes.

There are 9 pairs of sensing strips on BOTH sides for maximum detection

There are no metal contacts and so it can't corrode or deteriorate in urine

It is completely moulded and easy to clean and dry for instant reuse.

There are no connections to break. IMPORTANT NOTE: the sensor is the key to beating bedwetting. Don't be fooled by tiny clips or domes on the underwear, the urine can miss (especially with boys) and not trigger the alarm.

Alarms are simple to use and results are seen quickly. The first dry nights are often achieved within 2-4 weeks, followed by permanent dry nights within 3-5 months.

How does it work?

DRI Sleeper is a small electronic device that teaches children to stop bed wetting. It has two parts, the alarm unit and the detector. The alarm goes on the shoulder and the detector is placed inside the pants to react to urine and trigger the alarm. The detector is connected to the alarm by a comfortable plastic covered wire that is worn inside the pyjamas or nightdress.

During the night, a full bladder should trigger waking; in some children this fails to happen. Therefore, we use a sensor in the child's underwear, connected to an alarm, to wake the child the instance urination starts. Over time, the brain realises that there is a link between the alarm sounding, urination and waking. This is the first stage of treatment. Once the brain has made the connection, it begins to wake the child just before urination starts, to the feeling of a full bladder alone - 'beating the alarm'.

The child wears the alarm until fourteen consecutive dry nights are achieved without alarm activation.

Initially, the link may be fairly fragile and the child may wet within a few days of not wearing the alarm. At this point the child needs reassurance that this is a normal. The alarm is then worn again until a further 14 consecutive dry nights are achieved. Research agrees that a second relapse is unusual.

Bedwetting alarms are used by NHS enuresis clinics throughout the UK.
